Flying In
There are lots of different options for getting to the wedding. You could: take a ferry to France or Santander and then drive; take the eurostar to Paris and then take a train to Perpignan, through Girona, and then down to Lleida; fly to Toulouse for a French getaway and then either hire a car or travel down by train; take a detour to Palma then fly to Lleida or Barcelona... If you are looking for a more direct route, the airports we would recommend flying to are listed below. Please do get in touch if you want to chat anything through or get some other ideas!
Reus
Barcelona Reus Airport is the closest and easiest airport to fly to and is serviced mainly by RyanAir.
To get to Flix directly from Reus, you can hire a car and drive 50 minutes either along the coast or through Falset.
Or, you can take the stopper train (renfe line) which will take just over an hour. There are three trains per day and the journey costs about £6
Reus is a gorgeous town, and was the birthplace of Gaudi - more info on the area here.
Barcelona
Barcelona Airport has the greatest choice of flight options and has good links to the train lines.
And of course, the city is always worth a visit.
If you hired a car from the airport, it would be a two hour drive to Flix.
The high speed train from Barcelona to Lleida runs frequently and isn't too expensive if you book slightly in advance. The high speed train is 1 hour from Barcelona Sants to Lleida - you would need to transfer from the airport to Barcelona Sants station. Prices between £16 and £30.
From Lleida, it is a 40minute drive to Flix. We can put people in touch with taxis or organise lifts from Lleida. Hiring a car from Lleida would also be possible, and potentially cheaper. There is also a 45 minute bus for around £7
There is a slow train from Barcelona Sants direct to Flix. This takes about three hours - it runs along the coast and takes in towns like Sitges, Tarragona and Reus.
Zaragoza
Another airport option but not as frequent and slightly more expensive. It is a two hour drive from Zaragoza to Flix.
There is a train from Zaragoza Miraflores to Flix direct: regional 2 hours 19 minutes or regional express 2 hours 9 minutes. They run about three times a day.
Madrid
It is worth considering flying to Madrid. There would be lots of options for different flight times and airlines and there is a two hour high speed train to Lleida from Madrid Atocha station - either the Renfe Ave or Renfe Avlo line. Prices between £20 and £50 usually.
